Inka Trail to Choquekirao 4 Days 3 Nights Price : 490 US$ per person (min. 2 Pers.) This trek takes you to one of the last retreats of the Incas. Choquequirao (3.033 m) is an archeologic complex where investigation and clearing is still in progress. Choquekirao is situated close to the holy Salcantay (6.271 m) mountain and above the impressive Rio Apurimac Canyon. You will see spectecular scenery as well as andean flora end fauna. Day 1 :-CUSCO - CACHORA - PLAYA ROSALINA : 4:00 am pick up from your hotel and travel to Cachora (4 hours by bus): While the group is having breakfast the crew will arrange the horses for the trek. On this day we will walk 22 km, first flat and finally descending to playa Rosalina close to the Apurimac River, the main tributary of the Amazon River. Campsite at 1550 masl. Day 2 :- PLAYA ROSALINA TO CHOQUEKIRAO RUINS : After an early breakfast we start walking uphill towards Choquekirao arriving around 3 pm. We explore the ruins after arriving The view of the canyon is spectacular is also possible to see Andean Condors soaring in the mountains..Campsite at Choquekirao, 3033 masl.
4 DAYS : Day 3 : CHOQUEQUIRAO – PLAYA ROSALINA : In the morning, after breakfast, we have another opportunity to see the ruins together with our guide. We then start our way back towards Santa Rosa, where we will have lunch, and then further on to Playa Rosalina, where we can enjoy a refreshing bath in the turbulent waters of the Apurimac River. Day 4 : PLAYA ROSALINA - CACHORA -CUSCO : After an early breakfast we start climbing back up to Chiquisca and then further on to Cachora, from where our bus will take us back to Cusco. On the way we pass by Pinchiunuyoj ruins with inka terraces. The changes of habitats is very spectacular for seeing birds, different varieties of orquids, and coca plants at 2750 masl. From Rio Blanco we climb up to Maizal for about 3 hrs. Camp at 3000 masl. Day 4 :- MAIZAL TO YANAMA : From here we start walking uphill passing by impressive Inka mining sites called Minas Victoria which was later used by other miners. Almost on the top we can apreciate original paved inka trails. We pass over 4154 masl and then descend to our campsite at 3800 masl. Day 5 :- YANAMA TO TOTORA : After breakfast we start climbing slowly to our higher pass 4668 masl, again the view is amazing we are sorrounded by snow capped mountains : the Mt. Sacsarayoj and Mt. Padreyoj . Campsite at 3632masl. Day 6 :- TOTORA TO PLAYA : On this day we descend to the Totora river. As we go down the birdlife is very interesting specially with hummingbirds, woodpeckers and many species of orchids and begonias. Campsite at 2125masl. Day 7 : PLAYA TO AGUAS CALIENTES : On this day we walk our last uphill 2810masl which takes around 3 hours; from here the view of Machu Picchu is fabulous. After a good rest we go down to the Hydroelectric plant on the Urubamba River and from here we can walk to Aguas Calientes or take the train at 4 pm. Night in a Hotel. Day 8 :- MACHU PICCHU FULL DAY - CUSCO : After an early breakfast we go by bus to Machu Picchu and here we will have 2 hours guided tour and then you have free time to explore by your own, maybe climb Wayna Picchu. Day 1 : CUSCO - MOLLEPATA – SORAYPAMPA – ARAYANNIYOJ : 5:00 am pick up from your hotel and travel by bus to Soraypampa, end of the road. After breakfast we will start walking (or riding on the horse) uphill towards the pass at 4600 masl and with beautiful views of the Salkantay Mountain; in the afternoon we camp at Arayanniyoc, 3600 masl.:

Day 2 : ARAYANNIYOJ TO LUCMABAMBA( PLAYA) : After breakfast we continue our trek down hill towards Lucmabamba. On the way down we pass through spectacular scenery sorrounded by snowpeaked mountains; going down to the valley the vegetation starts changing with many orchids, begonias and many different varieties of birds. Camp at Lucmabamba at 1950 masl.

Day 3 : LUCMABAMBA (PLAYA) TO AGUAS CALIENTES : On this day we continue down hill passing trough different plantations like coffee, banana, yuca and passion fruit. After Lucmabamba we climb up to Llactapata for around 3 hours, here we will have lunch and we can appreciate the impressive Machu Picchu on the opposite slope of the mountain. We then descend to the Rio Urubamba.

The chances for seeing Toucans, Andean Cock of the Rocks, Quetzals, Hummingbirds and Torrent Ducks are very good. There is the option to go through the Urubamba Valley which is easier and where parts can be driven. In the afternoon we arrive to Aguas Calientes town. Night in a hostal.

Day 4: MACHU PICCHU FULL DAY – CUSCO : After an early breakfast we take the bus up to Machu Picchu ruins ( walking is also possible) and we will have a guided tour for around 2 hours and later have free time to explore by your own, maybe climb Wayna Picchu. At about 4 p.m. the train leaves from Aguas Calientes, arrival in Cusco around 8 p.m.

DAY 1: CUSCO - HUARAN TO CANCHA CANCHA : 5:00 pick up from your hotel to take you to the beginning of the trek at Huaran (end of the road) , it is 1 ½ hours in private bus. From here (3010 masl) we will walk uphill towards Cancha Cancha community. On this walk along the river we will pass through old Polylepis forests, this type of vegetation is very interesting for bird life like Hummingbirds, Flycatchers, Tit tyrants and the valley itself is very impressive. The walk today is around 7 hours, we will spend the night in tents at 4200 masl around Cancha Cancha Community.

DAY 2: CANCHA CANCHA TO QUISHUARANI : After an early breakfast we will continue up hill. This will be the hardest day of the trek because we will pass the highest point of the trek: the pass is at 4700 masl. The view from here is overwhelming, we have the Pitusiray and Sahuasiray snowcapped mountains right in front of us. Descending we pass by several lakes. On this day we can see herds of alpacas, llamas and sheep, it is also possible to see Gray Brocket Deer, Viscachas, Andean Goose, the rare Giant Coot, Puna Hawks and the impressive Andean Condor. This night we camp at 4000 masl close to Quishuarani village.

Hot Spring of Lares

DAY 3: QUISHUARANI TO CUNCANI TO LARES AND CUSCO : Today we climb up to the second Pass at Willcaccasa mountain, 4458 masl, again the view of the Andes and its beautifull valleys are impressive. Of course riding a horse makes it easier. However you have the best compensation with the view of the scenery. We arrive at Cuncani village at 3900 masl. From here we continue downhill towards the Lares Valley and its hot springs where we can have a well deserved bath. Our bus will be waiting for us to take us back to Cusco. At around 5 p.m. we arrive to Cusco.

Note: this trek can be combined with Machu Picchu (taking the train from Ollantaytambo on day 3 in the afternoon), cost for Machu Picchu (on day 4) is extra. We can arrange for this extension, please contact us.

HUCHUY QOSQO TREK – 2 days

This trek takes you from Cusco over the Andean Puna to the Sacred Valley. It is a little frequented trek through diverse scenery including the visit to Huchuy Qosqo arqueological site.

DAY 1 : CUSCO/ Sacsayhuaman to PUKAMARCA: 7:00 am we pick you up from your hotel and bring you to Sacsayhuaman, where the horses are waiting for us. Today we walk for around 7 hours, first climbing over 4000m and then descending to Pukamarka village. On the way the view is spectacular, we will walk through high andean Puna grassland with some potatoe plantations. We pass by two lakes: Suyllo Cocha and Qori Cocha, where it is possible to see Andean Gull, Neotropic Cormorant, Speckled Teal, Puna Teal and Mountain Caracaras. During the trek we will also see Lama and sheep herds grazing in the mountains. In the afternoon we follow the river to get to Pukamarka village (3100m), where we put up our camp. We can visit the Inka walls in the village.

DAY 2 : PUKAMARKA to LAMAY to CUSCO or to MACHU PICCHU: After breakfast we continue walking for 1.20 hours aprox. towards Huchuy Qosqo. Just behind Pukamarka we walk through an impressive canyon with wooden bridges. Continuing we can already see the terraces of Huchuy Qosqo. Arriving in Huchuy Qosqo we have an explanation about the arqueological site and the Inka culture.

We enjoy the view of the Sacred Valley below. Afterwards we continue walking downhill to Lamay for aprox. 2 hours. Our bus is waiting for us in the village to take us back to Cusco or to Ollantayatambo where you can take the train to Aguas Calientes (Machu Picchu) in the afternoon.
